Your emotional and physical welfare has always been my focus. Today we are face with extraordinary circumstances. But Telehealth is nothing to fear. Whatever obstacles arise, we will face them and overcome. Isn’t that why you’re here in the first place?

Whereas many of my clients currently meet exclusively online, and others when it’s convenient, those new to the process may have some questions.

So here we go:

Is Telehealth Successful for Addiction Treatment and Life Coaching?

  • YES. The research is clear that Telehealth has been demonstrated to be reliable, safe and effective modality for therapy. I get it. Before you try Telehealth it may seem a little awkward, but most people find they really enjoy the convenience and the ability to see the therapist/coach.

What are the Benefits of Telehealth?

  • There are several. There’s the convenience of not having to drive to the office, added flexibility of appointments, and the ability to include family members in a session who aren’t in the same room.

  • Decrease the risk of spreading Covid-19 and being exposed to other people who may be carrying the virus.

  • Many clients love being in their own environment and often feel they can open up more at home.

  • Telehealth doesn’t mean you have to be stuck behind a desk We can walk and talk just like I have with clients in the park. And I may encourage movement to supplement our sessions without concern for space in my small office.

  • Seeing a little of your living your space provides some insight that can be helpful in therapy or coaching.

  • No strangers to interact with in the waiting room.

  • Use your own bathroom:)

What are the Technical Details?

  • I use Zoom for all Telehealth sessions. I use a HIPAA secure platform that guarantees your privacy while online. Sessions are not recorded or stored on a server.

  • Simply download the Zoom app on any mobile device, or if using a laptop or desktop go to zoom.us to download the app to your computer.

  • I highly recommend you register with Zoom for free.

  • I’ll send you an email with the meeting ID. You will use the same one every time. No password is required.

  • When it’s time for your session, open the Zoom app and click “Join”. Then enter the ID number I give you and click the blue “join” button. From there you will enter the virtual waiting room which ensures two people aren’t in the session room at the same time. That’s it. It’s a good idea to show up a couple minutes early the first time.

  • You can choose to engage with audio and video, or only audio if you desire (video is highly recommended). You can choose to use the default audio (your computer) or choose to use headphones. Headphones are not necessary however.

How will I Pay for the Session?

  • I accept Venmo, PayPal, Zelle or credit cards.

Anything Else I Need to Know?

  • Please be sure you have read and electronically signed the Telehealth Consent I sent to you with your welcome email. If you can’t find that email or need another copy just let me know.

  • Make sure you pick a place and time where you can maintain privacy.

  • Occasionally technology gets interrupted. If that happens and lasts longer then 10 seconds simply start over and reconnect. If that still doesn’t work, you can call me and I can walk you through any problems. We will learn to manage the unexpected, like life.

  • Make sure I have your emergency contact information completed on your demographic form included in your welcome email.

  • Be yourself.
